Inland Empire Technical Trade Center (IETTC)
Government and private sector leaders across the Inland Empire (IE) agree that local
availability of an educated and skilled workforce is critical for competitiveness
in the global economy. While the IE has a rich variety of traditional post-secondary
institutions offering certificate and degree programs, there are only a handful of
technical training centers. Given the need for additional local technical training
capacity to support the region's residents and employers, Riverside Community College
District is seeking resources for the establishment of the Inland Empire Technical
Trade Center (IETTC). The IETTC is a response to the urgent need for good jobs for
the region's residents, diversification of the regional economy, and for a locally
available educated and skilled workforce for the region's current and future employers
in a region expected to grow to seven million residents within 30 years. This Center,
when finished, will provide residents with access to training utilizing an “earning
while learning" approach combining relevant work-based learning experiences with industry-standard
technical training, moving residents from poverty to self-sufficiency.
